Heal Your Scars

Heal Your Scars

It’s true that we have moved on to a progressive and a more accepting society where we truly believe that scars are beautiful. But whether or not to keep them is one’s personal choice, and if we can minimize the damage caused, there is nothing like it. Scars may come from surgeries that may not bring back a happy memory or be the result of a traumatizing incident for that matter. So many people actually want to remove scars for elimination of a nasty memory. Or because they just never asked for it in the first place.

There are different kinds of scars – keloid, contracture, hypertrophic and the more common acne scars.

So here are some tips on how to get rid of scars:

  1. Sometimes prevention starts right from the scratch (pun intended) when you can prevent the process of a wound turning into a scar by keeping your wound clean and not letting germs or debris surround the wound. Use a mild soap and water to keep the place of injury as clean as a place of worship.
  2. Your place of injury needs to heal and for that it needs protection from a strong component. You can use Nature’s Tattva Organic Raw Shea Butter that locks in the moisture and helps your wound to help with that moisture. A lot of times because of dryness, we end up itching the place and end up making provisions of a more ugly and permanent scar. The butter will help avoid the dryness and heal the scar more easily.
  3. One of the most important ways to reduce scars post-surgery is by cutting down on smoking. Or best, just stopping completely. Smoking slows down your overall healing, and thus can lead to scars.
  4. Stay away from the sun as much as possible during the healing process because sunburns can cause red and brown discoloration. Keep using a sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher to protect yourself from the damage.
  5. We all know that a bleaching agent can reduce any kind of marks, and on skin too it works as fine. Use lemon juice as your natural scar removal technique to get rid of scars or reduce them considerably.
  6. When you get the wound, one of the most important things to do is to protect it. And one of the most foolproof ways of doing that is by wrapping the concerned area with a bandage. You’ve to be very cautious about the bandage though and keep changing it in regular intervals.

Although these are ways to minimize scars, it may not be always possible to eliminate them completely. But don’t lose heart; there are a lot of different factors working on the same. Older people, contrary to popular belief, actually get lesser scars as compared to younger people. Sometimes, it’s just in your genes. For example, keloid scars can just be passed on to you because it runs in the family. But sometimes, even the smallest of things help. Like massaging your scar in circles.

And like we said, even if scars don’t get removed completely, they can still be beautiful.
