Top 7 Hair Care Mistakes to Avoid This Winter

Top 7 Hair Care Mistakes to Avoid This Winter

Winter brings along with it its subtle beauty and sublime aura that uplifts the mood for all. Whether it’s cozying up with a book under the blanket or lying down for a little bit more time in the morning, winter is that comfort companion you want to hug. But winter also can be damaging to your beautiful tresses if you’re not taking care of them.

Let’s look at some of the mistakes that we make unknowingly that end up being cruel to our hair.

Desperate times call for desperate measures and winter definitely doesn’t call for your summer shampoo. Since winter has a lot of dry air doing the rounds, you shouldn’t use the same shampoo as you do in summer because they will end up producing split ends in your hair.

Hair care

If you’re wondering then even after oiling your hair, it’s not having the necessary impact then maybe it’s because you’re keeping it oiled for days. You see just how you shouldn’t clog the pores on your skin; you shouldn’t block your hair follicles either. Because that also collects all the dust in the world and make your hair greasy. You will have the desired effect if you keep coconut oil or olive oil for 1-2 hours and wash your hair off. Olive oil has antioxidants and coconut oil has fatty acids that will keep your hair nourished and scalp non-flaky.

Now this is something that you must’ve heard from your moms and grandmas umpteen number of times but nothing gets truer than this. Do not go outside with wet hair. Apart from the fact that you are most likely to catch a cold, you subject your hair to breakage. Your strands may become dry or brittle, thus, making your hair feel dryer.

If your hair is naturally dry, then wash it lesser in winter. Let natural oils protect your scalp from the harshness of the winter.

So if you’re not going out with wet hair, which means you obviously need to use a blow dryer or you’re using other styling agents that involve heat. Always use a heat protector to save your scalp from direct damage.

In winter, you can keep your hair damage-free by going for hair trims more frequently. You can cut off the dry, split ends every six to eight weeks so that the damage doesn’t go beyond control.

Don’t skip conditioner on the days when you’re shampooing. Use a small quantity to stay within your limits.

Most of us make the tiniest of mistakes when it comes to how to handle our hair. For example, you should never rub your hair with a towel because that leads to more hair fall. It may dry your hair faster, but at what cost? You can soak all the water by just pressing the towel to your hair, or fold your hair up in the towel in a bun and let the water get soaked naturally.

Remember that good hair comes at a very low cost, as long as you maintain it.
